1:1 Reading Intervention & Dyslexia Support

When reading feels harder than it should, we need to figure out why.

Your child’s reading struggles are giving us clues.

At The Phonics Framework, I provide individualized 1:1 reading intervention and dyslexia support for children who need a deeper look at the skills behind reading and spelling.

I identify what’s actually getting in the way and create targeted instruction around the skills that will make the biggest difference for your child.

Through explicit, structured literacy instruction, we build stronger phonics, decoding, spelling, fluency, and comprehension skills so your child can become a more capable, confident, independent reader.

Is This the Right Support for Your Child?

1:1 reading intervention is designed for children who have persistent challenges with reading or spelling and need individualized support beyond general tutoring.

This may be the right fit if your child:

  • Struggles with reading, spelling, or decoding words

  • Relies on guessing instead of using reading skills

  • Has difficulty remembering phonics patterns or spelling rules

  • Reads slowly or works very hard to get through text

  • Avoids reading or feels frustrated by literacy tasks

  • Has been identified with dyslexia or shows signs of dyslexia

Every child’s reading profile is different. The first step is understanding which skills need support and where to begin.

Reading Support That Gets to the Root

Reading difficulties don’t happen for just one reason.

A child may be struggling with decoding, spelling, fluency, or comprehension, but the real question is: what skills are getting in the way?

With over 22 years of literacy experience, I use assessment and targeted instruction to understand your child’s unique reading profile and create a plan built around what they need most.

My instruction draws from structured literacy approaches, including Orton-Gillingham and Speech-to-Print, to help children understand how words work, strengthen foundational skills, and become more confident, independent readers.

What We Work On

I don't start with a grade level or a reading level. I start with your child.

We look at the foundational skills that support reading and spelling to understand where things are breaking down, how your child processes sounds and language, and which skills need the most attention.

Depending on your child's needs, intervention may focus on:

  • Phonological & phonemic awareness

  • Phonics & decoding

  • Word reading

  • Spelling

  • Reading fluency

  • Reading comprehension

And we pay attention to the child behind the reading. Frustration, avoidance, fear of getting a word wrong, and a lack of confidence can all affect how a child approaches reading.
